So what are some of the main advantages?

Marine Collagen is absorbed by the body faster than other forms of Collagen and has a particularly high amino acid content (glycine, proline and hydroxyproline). These amino acids stimulate cells in the skin, bones and connective tissues which leads to the production of new collagen. This makes Marine Collagen great for those who don’t want to opt for a meat based collagen.

What is Collagen?

Collagen peptides are a white to yellow, odourless powder, that is neutral in taste are highly soluble in cold liquids.

Similar to gelatine, collagen peptides are derived from Type 1 collagen through a hydrolysis process. This type of collagen that can be found in human skin and bone.

Protein makes up 97 per cent of this natural product. On a dry basis, collagen peptides contain a total of 18 amino acids, including 8 of the 9 essential amino acids.

The amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline are the most prevalent in collagen peptides, making up 50 per cent of its total amino acid content.

What’s the difference between Gelatine and Collagen?

In contrast to gelatine, collagen has no gelling capabilities.

Amino acid chains in Gelatine are relatively long. Amino acid chains in collagen are much shorter. The latter enables a very high degree of biological availability.

 How to use Collagen

Studies have shown that 10 grams of collagen per day are sufficient for adults to enjoy the benefits to joint, bone and skin health.

Collagen is readily soluble in water. You can mix collagen with beverages such as juice or other liquids, or in foods such as yoghurt, porridge or cereals.

For best results in beverages, put a little powder into a glass. Then mix it into a paste with a little of the liquid. Make sure you mix it very well, then add a little more liquid, mix well. Then add the rest of the liquid.
