What are the different types of Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, providing structural support to skin, bones, tendons, and connective tissues. While there are at least 28 types of collagen identified, five types account for the majority of collagen in the body.

Type I Collagen

Type V Collagen

Type V is necessary for the formation of cell surfaces, hair, and the placenta during pregnancy. It works in conjunction with Type I collagen in many tissues.
